Feature: NBA Christmas Day Kicks Preview

Just do it xmas

Earlier this month, we previewed the Nike SB Dunk ‘Ugly Christmas Sweater” Pack, but Nike Basketball, Jordan Brand, Adidas, and even Under Armour are also joining in on the holiday festivities.  The NBA will host 5 games this Christmas day- Let’s break down the kick game for each one.

Bulls vs. Nets- 12:00 on ESPN

With no Derrick Rose for the Bulls, Chicago looks to Carlos Boozer for some on court heat.  Boozer wore a Nike Hyperdunk PE (http://cdn.solecollector.com/media/sneakers/images/4%20CBooz%20Hyperdunk.jpg) last year and it is possible he’ll do the same in 2013.  For the Nets, Deron Williams wore a Penny V Black/White/Game Royal in 2012, so it will be interesting to see whether Deron pulls out a more Christmas oriented model, or stays with his normal Hyperfuse PE that he’s been wearing all year.  The Nets other point guard, Tyshawn Taylor, was the first player to rock the Adidas Mutumbo on court this year, so maybe we’ll see him wear some heat Christmas Day.

Thunder vs. Knicks- 2:30 on ABC

Since Derrick Rose won’t be rocking any new kicks on court anytime soon, Adidas will probably look to outfit some of their lesser known stars, and in this game, make sure to look at Iman Shumpert’s feet- most likely the Adidas Crazy 8 “Nightmare Before Christmas.” (https://kicksoftheday.wordpress.com/2013/12/17/breaking-adidas-crazy-8-nightmare-before-christmas/).  Also for the Knicks, Carmelo Anthony, and we’ve seen what he’ll be wearing for the occasion.  Melo will pull out a “Christmas” version of the M10 (https://kicksoftheday.wordpress.com/2013/12/14/breaking-jordan-melo-m10-christmas/).  The color way features a volt/orange look, similar to the PE’s Chris Paul and Blake Griffin will be rocking that day.  For the Thunder, we’ve already gotten a look at the KD VI “Christmas” which will drop Christmas Day, and we’ve also seen what Russell Westbrook has up his sleeve.  Westbrook will wear a Christmas colorway of the Jordan XX8 SE, which you can see here (https://kicksoftheday.wordpress.com/2013/12/11/breaking-air-jordan-xx8/).

Heat vs. Lakers- 5:00 ABC

Of course, this game will feature two of the games stars- LeBron James and Kobe Bryant.  Both James’ and Bryant’s shoes have already been unveiled to the public and will release Christmas Day, with James rocking a mint green LeBron XI, while the Kobe 8 gets makeover with Scales (https://kicksoftheday.wordpress.com/2013/12/11/breaking-nike-basketball-christmas-collection/).  Dwayne Wade will be rocking the Li-Ning WOW 2 “Christmas,” sporting festive colors with a green upper, while Ray Allen will be wearing this Air Jordan 10 “Christmas” PE (https://kicksoftheday.wordpress.com/2013/12/24/pe-watch-air-jordan-10-christmas-pe-for-ray-allen/).  We’ll also see plenty of Nike Christmas PE’s in this game from Pau Gasol, Steve Nash, Nick Young, Chris Bosh.

Rockets vs. Spurs- 8:00 on ESPN

For the Rockets, we look to James Harden and Jeremy Lin.  Harden rocked a sick Lunar Hypergamer Low PE (http://cdn.solecollector.com/m/images/articles/james-harden-wears-nike-lunar-hypergamer-low-christmas-pe-2007067381.jpg), and this year he’ll probably be outfitted with yet another PE.  Lin also wore that same Hypergamer PE, so it will be interesting to see what Nike comes up with for these two players.  Not to be outdone, Adidas will surely create a bright colored D-Howard 4 PE for the Rocket’s center.  San Antonio didn’t play on Christmas last year and we don’t have any images available just yet of what any of the Spurs players might we wearing on 12/26.  Who knows what Adidas will come up with for what might be Tim Duncan’s final Christmas game?

Clippers vs. Warriors- 10:30 on ESPN

Steph Curry will definitely bring out some Under Armour Christmas PE’s for this one.  Under Armour has always outfitted their stars with PE’s for a holiday, like their St. Patricks Day Pack (http://www.sneakerfiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/ua-1-600×369.jpg), and Curry will be rocking the “Grinch” colorway from the Under Armour Spawn Atomix “Christmas Day” pack.  The Clippers however, feature their two Jordan stars- Chris Paul and Blake Griffin.  Images of the Cp3.VII and Jordan Superfly..2 that each player will be rocking have already surfaced, showing volt/orange color blocking (https://kicksoftheday.wordpress.com/2013/12/11/news-update-jordan-cp3-vii-and-superfly-2-christmas/).  Combined with the Clipper’s all red Christmas uniforms, these kicks are sure to stand out.
